Topic: Wauseon, Ohio 09
It was a great drive up to Wauseon. Sunny and warm. If you have never been there you need to go. It isn't voted #1 Region for nothing. The track is always a great prepared power track. The promters for this event are super nice to everyone. Your treated with respect and appreciated. It is always packed with competitors and fans. This year was no exception. The 7500 Mods had 11 in their class with Todd Feiss taking the win. Mini's had 23 with Rick Peters winning. TWD Trucks had 13 in class and Tarry Feiss won the event. SF had 26 with Tim Palmer winning. SSD had 18 in the class and winning was Ernie Connors driving "The Special" of Boxlers. 18 4x4 trucks and Holman winning. 10 Pro Stocks with "Greenline Express" taking the win. Some of the classes was completed for the season here. Shramek won the SSD Championship for another year. Adam Bauer won the Mini Championship.
Congratualtions to Both for a hard well earned Championship.

Topic: Bowling Green, Ohio 2009

The skies was dark and there was a threat of rain. We drove through a few sprinkles but nothing big. We arrived at Wood County about noon on Thursday. Sun was shining and wind blowing. Blue Shirts had a band called "Haywire" play for us. That band was super. The girl that played the fiddle was the best I'd heard in a long time. We really enjoyed dancing and singing with them. I enjoyed it a little too much but that's alright nobody probably remembered it the next day.
Friday's event had 24 light ss, 16 ss open, 72 sf and 42 twd trucks. The 72 SF was a record number entered at BG. The stands was packed. It was a great show. Friday night your treated to an after the pull supper. The ladies that prepared it worked really hard. It was good. As we came out we heard the band Haywire again. I behaved myself this time.
Woke up at 2 in the morning to the pouring rain. It was raining so hard I just knew the next afternoon session would be canceled. Around 7 the next morning the rain came again. When the sun finally came out it was around 10 or so. They began to work with the track. They prepared for rain the night before. By the time the Blue shirts had the track ready to go it was only an hour delay. That was plain amazing. Of course this is BG not just some ordinary place. These guys know how to build and maintain a power track. The sleds that was used are Bauer sleds. Creme of the crop. It shows why he is so good at what he does.
The first year we pulled here was 1984. They showed us all such wonderful hospitality then, just as they do now. I watched over the 3 days of being here and noticed something that I hadn't before. Now this might have been going on for years but I just noticed it this year. They must know when you look plain tuckered out and tired because I saw them pick up a family here and there on the golf carts and take them to the gate or vehicle on the grounds. Bibs picked us up and took us back to the truck as we left. That is such a kind thing to do. So there is many things they do but they just don't brag about it. Also the 12 year old girl that sang the Anthem was great. She had a beautiful voice. I believe they said she was in a Gospel group.
The Make a Wish Foundation exceded last years amount. Over 50,000. I believe this year. Debbie Sebastian made a quilt to be auctioned off also. Pullers donated T-shirts to use for the quilt.
All in all it was one of the best Bowling Green Pulls I've been to in years. Weather wasn't too hot, no rain out sessions, wall to wall people and mega entries. What more could you ask for in a pull.
Thanks again to NW Blue Shirts for everything you do to make it the best it can be.

Lions Super Pull of the South
Mood:
a-ok
Topic: Chapel Hill 2009
We arrived in Chapel Hill on Thursday afternoon. Sun was shining but not as hot as other years. Not quite as humid either. We visited and unwound from the drive. Friday morning we walked down to the hospitality building. The entry station. Got to catch up with good friends (The Blaney Family). John and Jackie are the flagman and flagwoman for Chapel Hill and have been for years. Hazel is the entry clerk. It is so good to see them every year. They do an excellent job. Friday night show just got under way when the sky opened up with pouring rain. They covered track and everybody ran for shelter. It was not a long delay and we were back to pulling.
Saturday was a little warmer but no rain this time. It was a packed crowd both nights but if you've ever been there then you know Chapel Hill is always a packed crowd. Both nights the show was superb. You just can't get any better then that. It is a pull that the pullers and the fans all want to go back to every year. The Lions Club members do such a great job in preparing the track and the grounds. No where do you get such warm friendly hospitality as here. It has been and always will be our favorite place to go. Thank you again for another great year. Hopefully if God willing we will see you next year.

Wilmington July 18th, 09
Topic: Wilmington, Oh July 18th, 09
All the way to Wilmington it drizzled rain off and on. It was better by the time we reached Clinton County. A lot of people out for the fair and tractor pull. Weather was the coolest I can remember it being. Normally we don't have low 70's and 50's at night temps in mid July. We met up with friends and watched the pull. The two wheelers was first class. 15 trucks in all. The strongest passes was Williams "Out of Control" truck which took second place and Wayne Sullivan on "Big Ed Red" who took the win on the last hook in the class.
Super Stock diesel was next with 9 tractors. Boxler made a strong pass of 303.4. Siefert was next with a pull of 240.6. Breaking, fuel all over track. Keith Middleton made a great strong pass of 309.1 to take the lead. Roger Early was next and was up and down all the way to 232.1. Needed more weight on the front. Mike Beck pulled and broke at 287.6. "Youngblood" was up next and made a pass of 305.7. Not one of his best I've seen. Esdon came up next and made a very fast straight pass to 331.4. Gettinger's "Up n Atom" went 289.1 and Blagrave hooked last making another nice pass of 316.8 for second.
Pro Stock class had 8 tractors. Jeff Palmer hooked first with 293.6 and watched the rest of the class try to beat it. Chasin Tail got close at 292.1.
The modified had 6 entries and Don Dean won. I left my seat to go purchase my Cookbook from Gettinger's before they left. The cookbook proceeds go to the UMDF. United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. Your purchase of this cookbook benefits the research of UMDF. The UMDF has been a constant source of support and information for the Gettinger Family in their time of need. We hope and pray that the sale of this cookbook will help the UMDF support and inform families like their's for many years to come. Arcola,Indiana
Now Playing: NTPA Region 2 Pull
Topic: Arcola, Indiana
We arrived in Arcola around 1:00pm Friday. It was hot, humid and a threat of rain. Got to talk to Sandi & Max Simpson for a while. It's wonderful to catch up with our long time friends of pulling. Sandi Coverdale visited at our trailer in the afternoon and it's always good times when Sandi and I can get together. We went to the hospitality tent for a really good meal. Arcola gives meals both nights. The supper was really good. When we pulled all across the country over the years it was so nice to have the promoter feed you. Everyone always appreciated it. It was home cooking away from home. You knew they appreciated you coming to their event. Thank you Arcola Fire Dept!
All The classes had good numbers both nights. Friday night I was impressed with the Super Farm's. They have improved since last year. More wheel speed equals more horsepower. The winner Travis Wisel won friday and Saturday night also won Warsaw the night before. In the light super class David Esteb won both nights. 4X4 trucks had a 3 way pulloff and Daniel Bosch layed down a perfect pass the first time and he nailed it in pulloff for the win. The Mini class didn't fare so well friday night. Track had moisture come up and made it too slick for them to get a grip with their tires. The modified class was a great show as always. Everybody loves the mods, oh wait is that my husband I see clapping. The quiet one!
He gets into the mods and the Supers. Bob Jostock came away with the win. By the way I enjoyed talking to Maude.
Saturday morning early brought dark skies and you just knew it was going to cut loose any minute and it did. I think John Banet said his rain gauge showed an inch. The rain was needed in that part of the country because crops looked very dry. The sky cleared off and a good breeze blew all day. Track and grounds was good to go again. Saturday night track was awesome. All the classes had as good a numbers if not maybe a few more. Todd Feiss won the mod class Saturday night. The twd truck class was also a really good show. Several powerful passes. Marty Clock's new ride was really taking the sled to town for a FP pass. Todd that new truck is beautiful. I could take that home with me. It's stout too so watch out guys. Don Williams in the "Out of Control" truck from Ohio won the class in the pulloff. Marty scratched after losing oil pressure. I think Williams is leading the points in region 2. Very strong pass too. Impressive but you guys always were impressive. The Mini class was able to get into this track. Koester's was on a mission but both had breakage in pulloff. Terry Schisler took the win in the mini class. We were surprised by the fire works show. That was a nice gesture. You should thank the neighbors and lets hope they do it next year.
I hope Arcola keeps the 2 track deal going for next year. No one wanted to leave their seats during the pull because of the non stop action. Show moved along really good. Greg Randall kept the vehicles moving and Scott Doty and Dean Richwine flagged both tracks. Great job by all of you. You guys have to be wore out by now. Dan Nearpass sleds worked perfectly too. Also John Banet I have to say you guys kept the crowd informed and loved the humor. Hope the person who lost his keys to his VW Bug eventually claims it. That was priceless.
Thank you John Banet for all you have done again. Greg Randall and NTPA I can't say Thank you enough. Arcola Fire Dept and everyone involved in putting on this event. One line says it all. Job well done and see you next year.

Wilmington, Oh GN
Topic: Wimington June 09
The weather co-operated with having sunny skies but the heat and humidity was a little much. Large crowd on hand tonight. I thought the numbers were really good in all classes. The show moved along faster then last year. Kudo's to all that made that happen. Track was excellent and consistent. Can't ask for better then that. Being that sleds are always in discussion I took special interest in watching Singers "Bauer Built" sled. It also was smooth and consistent. The settings was perfect. I ask Roland why the sled worked so smooth. He pointed out to me the configuration of the pan and explained why it worked. He said also a good track helps the sledman.
First thing we noticed was the new Large screen scoreboard. It had streaming video with sled cam, track cam, trackside cams and replay after each pass was complete. The distance could be read from any location also. Of course Alan Washburn announ
cing and he always does a great job.
First class down the track was the Modified Tractors. 9 in the Region 2 class. Don Dean hooked first and dropped. Several pulls in the upper 290's then Don came back last making the only FP to take the win. Great job Don.
13 Super Stock Tractors take the stage next. The Best of the Best. All hungry for the need of a Championship. It was good to see Esdon back out on Tour. Shramek with "Youngblood" takes the win in a 3 way Pull off.
Next up 4x4 Trucks. 11 vehicles in the class. Holeman's held the lead until "Midnight Raider" on the last hook took the win.
19 Pro Stock tractors in this event. One scratched, a few had some early season problems but a good show none the less. Randy Campbell with his "Soupline Express" held the lead until the later part of the show when Tim Cain took the lead and went on to win the class.
I would like to thank NTPA and the Clinton County Fairboard for all their hard work in making this another excellent event. b lkujh7tfs13o

It was time
Mood:
sad
I had to set you free, My love was not enough to make it better, I could not will it to go away, No matter how hard I tried, or prayed, But it was the biggest and most important role, I will ever know, I had to sacrifice My heart, To give you an unselfish gift, To match your unconditional love.
How could I justify, Seeing you suffer, Just to keep you with me, I love you more then I love myself, I chose to set you free, From your excruciating pain, Knowing I was giving myself, Heartache in the highest form, February 9th I gave you wings to fly.....

Winter Blues
Mood:
chillin'
So tired of Winter. We have had it all, snow , ice , wind and deep freeze cold. This morning it was 2 below. That's enough of that. It hasn't been a good start to my year. I had a Canadian Goose that stayed here last winter and then flew off with her flock last spring. She came back around Thanksgiving time. She felt safe to sit under our pole light in front yard at night if creek was frozen. A pack of coyotes took her a few weeks ago right out of the yard close to my sidewalk. Didn't like coyotes before but now hopefully when weather gets better Roland can call um and kill um all. Also found out our 12 year old Boxer "Sami" has cancer. She doesn't have but a few weeks so I'm making her comfortable and happy with her wish being my command.
Just thought I would share a few things on this summer pulling with you. We plan to go to more events and I plan to take a few pictures and post them on the blog from every event.
The picture I posted is a view from our front porch.

Connersville
Topic: Connersville,Indiana
Instead of it taking about 2 hours to get to Connersville it took 2 and a half. We ran into 2 detours on the way. As we drove in the first tractor was going up the track. We stopped and talked with Mark Foust and his Dad. We hadn't seen them in a long time.
The Pro stock class was first and it was a great show. Larry Shope made 2 excellent passes to take the win. Track looked good and sled was good. When your a puller those 2 things can mean everything. Flagman and track officials you did a good job because there was no long waits between vehicles. The next class was twd. Can't help it but my heart skips a beat and I get goose bumps when I hear the motors start up. Love the class and it was a great show. Congrat's to Doug Theobald on your win.
The Diesel Supers had good numbers too and put on a good show. Congrat's to Shramek's on winning the Championship and to Bud for that awesome pass for the win. Never saw Green go so fast!!
We both visited with so many friends all evening and that was super. You really miss these people from year to year.
